Fulwith plans: ‘make your views known’ says MP.

Harrogate and Knaresborough MP Andrew Jones has written to residents next to a proposed development on Almsford Bank asking them to make their views known. The proposal is for 17 residential dwellings at Almsford Bank Stables, Leeds Road. Seven of the properties would be affordable and the remainder self-build homes.

The site is not in Harrogate’s Local Plan and justification for the proposal includes the allocation of a site for employment use nearby.  However, Harrogate Council’s Cabinet voted not to proceed with planning for this site because the use of that site for employment and to provide office space was outweighed by the harm development would do to the Crimple Valley.

This is the fourth application for this site and Mr Jones is concerned that residents may think that, having made their views clear on three previous occasions, there is no need to do so again.

Andrew commented: “Each planning application is unique and so residents need to make representations separately every time a new application comes in.  To date only 39 comments have been registered so far on this new application.”

If you want to make your views known about this application you can do so on North Yorkshire Council’s planning portal.  The application number is 23/01082/OUTMAJ. Save Crimple Valley’s website also has a link on its website here. The page also features more information about the proposals.

For residents who are not comfortable using the internet or the council’s planning portal system Mr Jones included a feedback form with his letter to residents which they can return to him. He will collate those responses and hand them in to the council on residents’ behalf.
