Delays at the passport office and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) have meant that more people have been coming to their MPs for help. Local MP, Andrew Jones, has taken up dozens of cases and been successful in the vast majority.
Mr Jones commented: “My team and I are happy to help and one of our caseworkers specialises in these issues. Every day we have a dedicated time for contact with the passport office and the DVLA to raise individual concerns.”
To raise a delayed passport application or driving licence through Mr Jones’s office there is some information needed by the authorities and important timings to consider.
With passports you will need to provide as much information as possible of the following:
- Your full name and address.
- Your date of birth.
- The date of your application if known
- Your passport application (PEX) number.
You should not raise the issue until 10 weeks have passed unless there is an urgent need to have your passport application completed.
For a child’s passport, the person who made the application should contact us.
For driving licence delays you will need to provide as much information as possible of the following:
- Your full name and address.
- Your driver number.
- The date of your application.
- If the application was by post:
- The postcode to which the application was sent.
- The colour of the envelope in which the application was sent.
