Andrew Jones MP and Secretary of State for Education, the Rt Hon Nadhim Zahawi MP, visited New Park Primary Academy on Thursday (30 June).
Mr Zahawi was in Harrogate for the Local Government Association conference at the Harrogate Convention Centre.
Following his contribution to the conference Mr Zahawi and Mr Jones visited the school to meet with the headteacher and other staff from the Northern Star Academies Trust (NSAT). Among those present was the Chief Executive of NSAT, Jenn Plews, as well as other headteachers from the trust including Sukhraj Gill, the new headteacher at Harrogate High School.
Commenting on this Mr Jones said:
“It was great to welcome Nadhim to Harrogate and to join him at New Park Primary Academy. The school has undergone an impressive turnaround in recent years and we had an enjoyable visit.
“We discussed the education catch-up from the pandemic and challenges ahead for the school among other issues. It was an excellent opportunity for the Secretary of State to hear from North Yorkshire school leaders directly on why schools in our area consistently perform so well.”
