In contrast to the strikes closing our rail lines, Harrogate and Knaresborough MP Andrew Jones raised the prospect of re-instating lost services in Harrogate by investing in driver training at Prime Minister’s Questions today.
Mr Jones said: “I wanted to raise the issue as I know how difficult some people are finding getting to Leeds and London when they need to be there after services were reduced recently.
“While some of this must be down to demand not having recovered post-lockdown, the Chairman of Northern tells me that there is also an issue catching up with driver training. Without the right number of qualified drivers services cannot run so it is important we put priority into the area.”
