A new lease of life has been offered to the former LIDL store on York Road in Knaresborough.
A planning application has been submitted by Lidl UK and PureGym to allow an extension of opening hours to 06:00 – 23:00, Monday through Sunday. All remaining Lidl branding would be removed and ventilation plant equipment replaced with newer models.
An Environmental Noise Impact Assessment has been submitted as part of the application which can be viewed online.
The building hosted Knaresborough’s vaccination centre in 2020 and 2021 before it moved to the Chain Lane Community Hub.
The application can be viewed and comments submitted at: https://bit.ly/3tOfCfd.
Knaresborough Councillor, Ed Darling, commented: “This application, if approved, will make use of a prominent and sizeable empty building, that in itself would be positive. But that must not be to the detriment of those living closest to the site being impacted by noise.
“I hope those who live close to the site can take the time to view the submissions and make their views known.”
