MP’s visit to successful Copgrove business.

Andrew Jones MP visited Abacus Manufacturing in Copgrove today (15 February) to discuss its expansion and how it has coped during the pandemic and learn of their growth plans.

Mr Jones met with owner Ian Pattison (pictured left) who started the business with a plumbing supplies shop in Harrogate town centre. The business now provides training and distribution services to well-known nationwide companies as well as manufacturing bathroom and other products for homes and businesses.

Commenting on the visit Mr Jones said: “Locally there is a strong track record of successful business start-ups though this does not always translate into successful scale-ups. Abacus however is a real success story and it was great to learn more about their products and services plus see their manufacturing capacity in action.

“It has been tough during the pandemic so hearing how Abacus has invested and is poised for further growth is really encouraging. It is critical that companies like Abacus are supported as local companies growing and recruiting and investing are creating the economic growth we need.”
