North Yorkshire County Council has announced that, owing to an issue with sourcing materials, work to improve the library’s facilities has been delayed. The library will therefore remain open between 23 January and 6 February when the temporary closure to facilitate the works was scheduled to take place.
The project, across all three floors of the library, will include redecoration works, installation of energy efficient lighting and the treatment of damp affecting part of the building. When a revised timeframe for the works is announced library users will be able to borrow additional books to keep them going during the closure.
The libraries in Woodfield, Starbeck and Knaresborough are open as normal and will remain so when these works are ongoing.
