Residents of Nydd Vale Terrace which neighbours the railway line contacted local councillors Sam Gibbs and Richard Cooper and MP Andrew Jones about noise generated by the new Azuma trains when they are in the sidings.
The trains – part of the popular new direct services to London – pull into the sidings next to the terrace and often leave the engines running for long periods of time. With the increased number of services this had become quite a problem for the residents who found they couldn’t have their windows open for long periods because of the noise.
Sam, Richard and Andrew contacted LNER about the issue.
Sam said: “It is great that the situation has improved and we will be contacting LNER again to ensure that improvement is permanent. We all welcome the new services which are really helping connect Harrogate to the capital boosting our business tourism and conference trade. But we also have to make sure in making these improvements we think of local people. I am pleased progress has been made in this respect.”
