There has been a raft of good news for Knaresborough’s High Street recently.
Harrogate Borough Council are pressing ahead with the renovations of the three High Street shops it purchased earlier this year. Planning permission for the three shops and residential flats above has been granted and work is underway.
In addition, our town is also attracting more businesses, with the vacancy rates for the town dropping to 10.2 per cent compared to 12.6 per cent in March 2020.
Local MP Andrew Jones welcomed the news: “These have been difficult times and we are still not through them. Retail and hospitality face ongoing challenges but these figures are positive and an improving position on much of the last few years. Knaresborough’s figures should improve even further when the long-term empty properties on the High Street come into use later this year. They were derelict eyesores until the council bought them and refurbished them.”
