Woodands Corner is a very busy junction and idling traffic causes exhaust fumes to build up. Sometimes the air quality at the junction has fallen below acceptable standards. However recent monitoring has shown improvement, and the most recent report from Harrogate Borough Council confirms the trend.
Local councillor John Ennis told Community News: ‘This is welcome. We’re all aware of course that during Covid lockdown periods the traffic volumes have been reduced, so we shouldn’t assume the improvement is permanent, but I’m assured that air quality monitoring will continue at this site so I will continue to assess the data. I will also continue to support car sharing and sensible alternatives to car use’.
