Residents of the new Lanes development and Boroughbridge Road users have been inconvenienced as a result of highway roadworks that over-ran due to the narrowness of Bar Lane. Work there included the diversion of a high voltage electricity cable and the widening and improvement of that section of Bar Lane for residents of the Lanes.
It also pushed back the long awaited planting of the Bar Lane roundabout. After a campaign by Samantha Mearns and County Councillor Zoe Metcalfe, North Yorkshire County Council and Harrogate Borough Councils have agreed to landscape the featureless roundabout. Until the roundabout has been adopted, this will be in the form of colourful planters this season, to be replaced by wildflowers next year.
