Local MP raises lack of banking facilities in the Commons

Yesterday, Thursday, Andrew Jones MP raised concerns over the lack of banking facilities in Knaresborough on the floor of the House of Commons.

In the Business of the House session, Mr Jones raised the case of Knaresborough with the Leader of the House. Knaresborough’s last bank, the Halifax, closed its doors earlier this year leaving the market town without a full banking facility.

Putting forward the concerns of local businesses and the impact on them of having no local bank, Mr Jones highlighted the work of local councillors, Ed Darling and Samantha Mearns, in trying to secure additional ATMs and the work of Harrogate Borough Council to bring forward a community banking facility in the town.
