Local councillor Richard Cooper has contacted North Yorkshire police and North Yorkshire County Council about speeding on East Parade. The problem has worsened since lockdown as with less traffic more motorists have simply put their foot down.
Councillor Cooper commented: “I live on East Parade so my neighbours and I see the problem every single day. We have a church, shops and the Mowbray Medical Centre here so the number of pedestrians and people crossing the road is high. Rather than wait for a couple of seconds to let other vehicles through many motorists also mount the pavement and drive down that at speed.”
Richard will update local residents with the responses he receives from the authorities as he gets them.
