North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) has won funding from the government from its Active Travel fund. This is a fund to promote sustainable travel options. You can read more about it at http://www.northyorks.gov.uk/social-distancing-measures.
The consultation is in two parts; a more general consultation asking people what kind of measures they want to see brought forward and then a further consultation later in the year on the specific measures that have been suggestion and are practical to take forward.
Andrew Jones MP commented: “There are all sorts of suggestions; some controversial, some innovative, some impractical. But it is great that people are giving some thought as to how we reduce traffic on the roads, reduce fumes from vehicle emissions and make our roads safer for all.
“I’m encouraging everyone to have their say. Yes – say what you don’t want. But also engage constructively and describe the changes you would like to see to make our area a cleaner, greener and safer place to live.”
